Our base in Reggio Calabria is in the Strait of Messina. It is certainly not the most beautiful place but it has the advantage of being the best protected of the strait's ports.
Historically, pirates, the Second World War and the 1980 earthquake have largely contributed to the destruction of this small town.
Its port is nevertheless well equipped and well situated for setting off to discover Sicily by sailboat, which is 5 miles away. You can also cross the strait and head for the Aeolian Islands by catamaran, 40 miles from the base.
Reggio Calabria certainly stands out for its ancient and authentic character. Located in the south of Italy, this important seaside resort, located on the slopes of Aspromonte, was occupied by the Greeks from the 8th century BC before becoming the object of desire for many invaders.
The architecture of the city also bears traces of the conquerors who came to invade the city of Reggio Calabria.
