Yacht charter

Last updated on 8 April 2025

In the extreme south-west of the Cyclades archipelago in the Aegean Sea, Milos is a charming destination that is among the most beautiful in Greece. Particularly famous for its "Venus de Milo" on display at the Louvre Museum in Paris, this volcanic island has all the ingredients to seduce lovers of the Mediterranean.

Sometimes known as the "island of colors," Milos has wild and beautiful shores that are perfect for a change of scenery and unusual photos. You will see enchanting coves, large limestone cliffs and sumptuous beaches with turquoise waters.

A yacht charter in Milos will allow you to take a magical sailing cruise in Greece. Sailing around this island will provide you with pleasant moments of contemplation, with exceptional sites such as the Papafrangas coves, Sarakiniko beach, or the fabulous landscape of Tsigrado.

In addition, pleasure boating remains an essential asset for discovering the other island pearls of the Cyclades. Kimolos, located 1.6 km northeast of Milos, is an interesting stopover before setting course for other, more promising destinations such as Sifnos, Serifos, Antiparos, or even Paros. The latter is renowned for its translucent marble and its basilica of Panaghia Katapoliani.

Where can you sail from your yacht charter in Milos?

By renting a boat in Milos, you will have the opportunity to discover the wonders of the island, but also to sail on the Aegean Sea to other neighboring islands.

You can discover the islands of Kimolos and Polyaigos, the island of Sifnos or the island of Folegandros, all located not far from Milos. On Milos itself, here are some options for your yacht charter:

  • Discover the island's beaches and coves: Milos has more than 70 beaches, offering a wide variety of landscapes and colors. Among the most famous beaches on Milos are Sarakiniko, a white rock beach that resembles a lunar landscape; Firiplaka, a pink sand beach hauled in by multicolored cliffs; and Kleftiko, a cove accessible only by boat, where there are caves and natural arches.
  • Visit the island's historical and cultural sites: Milos has a rich and varied history. You can visit archaeological sites such as the ancient theater, where the famous statue of Venus de Milo was discovered, now on display at the Louvre in Paris, or the site of Phylakopi, which bears witness to the Cycladic, Minoan and Mycenaean civilizations. You can also visit the island's museums or picturesque villages.

What is the best time for a yacht charter in Milos?

Yacht charter in Milos is possible all year round, thanks to the Mediterranean climate of the Cyclades. However, some seasons are more suitable than others for enjoying the sailing, the scenery and the activities on the island. Here are a few tips to help you choose the best time for your yacht charter in Milos:

  • Spring is the ideal season for a yacht charter in Milos, as the temperatures are pleasant (between 18 and 24°C), the wind is moderate and the sea is calm. You can admire the natural beauty of the island and enjoy the water activities available.
  • Summer is the hottest and driest season in Milos, with temperatures that can exceed 30°C, ideal for those who want to spend a sunny vacation. The island is therefore very lively, and you can take part in the island's festivities, such as the Milos Cultural Festival, which offers concerts, shows and exhibitions. However, this is also the period when there are the most tourists and when prices are the highest.
  • Autumn is the ideal season to enjoy the colors and flavors of the island, with temperatures that remain mild (between 20 and 25°C), a weakening wind and a sea that remains warm. You can visit the island's cultural and historical sites, such as the ancient theater, the village of Plaka or the archaeological museum. You can also watch the spectacular sunsets over the Aegean Sea.
  • winter is the coolest and wettest season on Milos. It is also the time when you can enjoy the island's charm in the winter light and tranquil atmosphere. You can hike on the island's trails or relax in the natural hot springs. Prices are also more attractive.

What type of boat should I choose for a yacht charter in Milos?

Filovent offers sailboat charters, catamaran charters, gulet charters and motorboat charters at various prices. Here are a few tips to help you make your choice when you go on your yacht charter in Milos:

  • The sailboat: This type of boat is suitable for experienced sailors who know how to maneuver the sails and the rudder. The sailboat will allow you to fully enjoy the pleasure of sailing in harmony with nature. You can opt for a sailboat charter in Milos and explore the island's coasts and coves, or sail to the islands of Kimolos, Sifnos or Serifos.
  •  The catamaran: This is a type of boat with two hulls, which offers great stability and speed. It is suitable for beginners or intermediate sailors, who appreciate the ease of handling and the safety. A catamaran charter will allow you to enjoy a spacious and bright living space, with comfortable cabins and pleasant outdoor areas. You will also be able to easily access shallow areas, thanks to the catamaran's shallow draft, which is ideal for sailing around the Greek islands.
  • The gulet: the gulet is a traditional Greek boat with a rounded shape and a wooden hull. It is a type of boat that is suitable for curious or romantic sailors who love charm and authenticity. A gulet charter will give you a unique experience, sailing on a boat steeped in history and culture with a crew who will make sure you have a memorable time
  • The motorboat: This type of boat is suitable for sailors in a hurry or sports enthusiasts who love speed and adrenaline. The motorboat will enable you to cover long distances quickly, enjoying the thrill of motorized navigation. You can also take part in water sports, such as water skiing, water-jet-powered motorized craft or wakeboarding. Motor yacht charter is more suitable for short cruises.
