Many people call Pylos the «little Switzerland» with its small streets that are very similar to those found in Switzerland. In addition to immersing itself in a picturesque setting, Pyros also benefits from all the amenities to make your stay a pleasant one. Several entertainment centers, small shops and restaurants share this small town to amuse tourists. Lovers of peace and quiet will enjoy getting lost in the labyrinth of streets leading to some impressive architecture, such as the Neo Kastro castle, a Turkish fortification built in 1573 that proudly dominates the city. There is a small museum there exhibiting objects relating to Greek independence.
Walks are also recommended in the area around Pylos. Hikers will quickly feel at home in the green spaces surrounding the town, where walks are a pure delight. The surrounding area conceals real gold mines for archaeology enthusiasts. Numerous precious artifacts, clay tablets, amphorae and crockery, currently on display in the Archaeological Museum, were indeed unearthed during the excavations.
A day at the beach

Shaped like a horseshoe, this lovely beach is certainly the most photographed in the south of the country. In addition to being perfect for families, Voidokilia beach is close to a site housing the remains of a city where the god Zeus is said to have been born.
If you sail your yacht to Sykia Pass in Greece, not far from Divari Beach, you will come across a narrow passage separating Sphacteria Island from the mainland. The water is shallow and crystal clear, and you can relax on the small sandy strip. Chrisi Akti is another of the most famous beaches in Pylos. This extremely long golden beach is located near the Gialova lagoon, which is home to a wealth of flora and fauna.
