Yacht charter

Last updated on 8 April 2025

Lying along the Tyrrhenian Sea, the town of Maratea in southern Italy is as beautiful as it is elegant. Its large marina, cliffs, lush greenery and houses perched on the hillside make it truly splendid! To enjoy the most beautiful views of this Italian town, plan your trip with a Maratea yacht charter.

Discover Maratea by boat

What do you need for an unforgettable vacation in Maratea? Enthusiasm, passion and an immense joie de vivre! You will find the rest when you get there. First of all, for a magical escape on the Tyrrhenian Sea, climb aboard a sailboat in Italy. On a yacht or a sailboat, tour the Italian coastal towns, but also discover the island of Saint Janni. For entertainment, you will have the choice between several nautical activities, as well as hikes along the coast.

Veer off to invigorating sports such as surfing or scuba diving. You can then relax on the beaches of Cala Grande, the small bay of Jannita or Porticello. If you like trekking, climb Mount San Biagio and admire the statue of Christ the Redeemer. Don't forget to round off your visit to Maratea in style by touring its magnificent churches.

Its monuments

The history of Maratea is illustrated by its many churches, which you can take in on a short stroll before heading back out to sea. Perched on Mount San Biagio, the village is known as the Town of 44 Churches and is home to some splendid works of art. Among the oldest, the church of San Vito is home to impressive frescoes dating from the 14th century. As you head towards the ruins of the old town, you will see the Basilica of San Biagio protecting the relics of Saint Blaise.

Your tour of the churches will take you to the Church of the Annunciation, dating from the 16th century, and the Church of the Holy Virgin of the Rosary, whose walls are adorned with little angels. The statue of the Redeemer, built in 1965, the column of Saint Blaise and the castle of Castrocucco, abandoned from the 17th century, will beautifully round off your visit to the historical monuments of Maratea.

Its festivals and cuisine

Maratea invites you to discover its culture through its traditional events and its gastronomy. The festival of the translation of the relics of Saint Blaise is one of the highlights. This festival, celebrating the arrival of the relics of Saint Blaise, is held in May and lasts a whole week. Gourmets will take advantage of the festivities to sample his famous sausages cooked in all kinds of sauces. You will also find the sweet treats of Basilicata on your plates, including the famous walnut cakes, a specialty of Maratea and Trecchina. Quench your thirst while sipping rossoli, a drink made with honey, alcohol and rose oil.

Its nature

Although natural, you will quickly discover that the Maratea region has retained a certain authenticity. Your hikes will be punctuated by the intoxicating scent of Mediterranean myrtle and rosemary. They will take you to the Cilento and Vallo Diano National Park, with its rolling hills dotted with olive trees, which was granted UNESCO protection in 1998.
