What is the best time of year to go on a cruise in the Caribbean?

Updated on: 29/07/2025

If you want to enjoy the winter sun and your budget allows it, then go between December and March.Ideally, if you can,try to go outside of the peak holiday season, when prices are lower and there are fewer crowds.

If you’re looking for the best prices and fewer crowds, I recommend the months of June, July, and August.

And if you’re looking for the best value for your money, the shoulder months ofApril and November will be perfect for you.

However , we do not recommend September and October, as this is hurricane season.

We generally distinguish between two different periods in the Caribbean:

  • the dry season or Carême (December to April), when island life is in full swing with a large influx of tourists
  • the wet season or Hivernage (May to November), when the island’s flora blooms and the islands are less crowded with tourists

In addition, temperatures will vary depending on the season of your cruise departure:

  • expect an average of 26°C during the dry season, meaning mild temperatures
  • expect an average of 29°C during the wet season, with more humid weather, which may make the cruise less pleasant

Finally, plan a budget that varies depending on the season you wish to travel. For example, for a bareboat yacht charter in 2026 in the Caribbean:

  • the median price is €7,315 during the dry season
  • the median price is €5,700 during the wet season
