What are the must-see destinations in Croatia?

Updated on: 27/02/2026

Best Anchorage Spots

The Dalmatian coast offers exceptional anchorages, but not all are equally sheltered from prevailing winds. Here are our recommendations based on the weather:

  • Lučice Bay (Brač): An idyllic setting with crystal-clear waters, perfect for a swim break. Well sheltered from the Jugo (southeast wind).
  • Borče Bay (Hvar): A wild and unspoiled anchorage, ideal for a peaceful night’s rest. Good protection from the Bora (northeast wind).
  • Lopud (close to Dubrovnik): Located just a stone’s throw from the port of Dubrovnik and perfectly sheltered from the wind, this is the ideal anchorage to enjoy the city in complete peace before departure.
  • Kornati Archipelago: A sailor’s paradise, these 89 deserted islands offer secluded anchorages of rare beauty. Ideal for sailors seeking solitude and unspoiled nature.
  • Vis Island: Far from the crowds, Vis offers secluded anchorages in pristine coves. A must-visit stop for sailboats wishing to stray from the tourist routes.
  • Island of Lastovo: One of Croatia’s most remote islands, designated a nature park. Tranquil anchorages and exceptional seabeds for diving enthusiasts.

Nightlife and dining stops

Split & Duće (20 min from Split)

Duće is the perfect stopover to escape the hustle and bustle of Split:

  • Damianii Luxury Hotel & Spa: Refined Italian cuisine. The risotto is an absolute must-try.
  • Hotel Plaža Duće: Rooftop bar with breathtaking sea views and very affordable prices. We highly recommend their Bloody Mary.

  • Konoba Bajso (Staro Selo): Perched high above, this restaurant offers a magical panorama between the sea and the mountains. Fresh cuisine (fish carpaccio, grilled meats) at very reasonable prices.

  • Massimo Cocktail Bar: Perched atop a medieval tower, your drinks are delivered via a pulley. A truly unique experience.

  • Kornati Archipelago: 89 deserted islands and islets of wild, rugged beauty. One of the most spectacular marine national parks in the Mediterranean.
  • Island of Vis: Spared from mass tourism, Vis charms visitors with its hidden coves, exceptional seabed, and authentic atmosphere.
  • Island of Lastovo: Designated a nature park, Lastovo is one of Croatia’s most remote and wildest islands. Ideal for diving and contemplation.

For your budget, plan on:

  • Konobas and beach bars: €10– 20 per dish
  • Michelin-starred restaurants: €80–150 per person
