Do I need to refill my freshwater supply during my river cruise? If so, how?

Updated on: 26/05/2025
The freshwater tank on the boat you rent, which you use for showering and washing dishes, is rarely enough for a week-long cruise. You’ll therefore need to refill it at a river port along the way.

We do not recommend drinking this water: buy bottled water to stay hydrated. There is a gauge on the boat that shows the water level, allowing you to monitor your usage. The base manager will tell you where it is located at check-in. As for the various ports or river stops, they will be listed in the river guide on board, but you can also view them online on Fluviacap. Expect to pay between 0 and 15 USD per night if you wish to stay docked.

Be sure to arrive at the port during opening hours to ensure you can refill your water supply (the person at the port will do this for you or explain how to do it).
