Where does the professional skipper sleep on the boat?
Updated on: 26/05/2025If you rent a boat with a skipper, you should always reserve an entire cabin for them: either a small single berth in the point (if it’s a catamaran with a point berth, for example) or a double cabin. In practice, if you’re renting in the summer, it’s common for the skipper to sleep outside. They usually get up early, and staying outside makes it easier for them to keep an eye on the boat.

In very rare cases, some skippers agree to sleep in the living area, but we strongly advise against this for the sake of our guests’ privacy (the skipper’s personal belongings in the shared living area…!)
