Will we all get a refund if one of us can no longer participate in the charter?

Updated on: 26/05/2025
- If you purchased cancellation insurance at the time of booking
- If you completed your crew list within 48 hours and that person is on it
- If the reason for your crew member’s cancellation is covered by the insurance

Then yes, if these 3 conditions are met, you can choose to have everyone collectively reimbursed for the total charter amount. You can also decide to proceed with your charter with a reduced crew. Those who cannot participate, or decide not to participate due to the absence of the crew member in question, will be reimbursed on a pro-rata basis. For example, if a person is injured before the charter, their spouse or one of their friends scheduled to be part of the crew may decide not to participate. They will also be covered. Thus, if the charter cost €3,000 and there were 6 of you, and 2 people can no longer go, you will be reimbursed €1,000 (2/6 of the charter cost).

It is in the insurer’s interest for the boat to depart, even with a reduced crew. Therefore, the insurer will always agree to reimburse part of the charter fee if at least one person has a valid reason to cancel.
