How can I tell what condition the boat I’m renting is in if the Filovent website shows manufacturer photos rather than actual photos?
Updated on: 26/05/2025For many boats, the rental companies have posted actual photos, but you’re right—many boats only have manufacturer photos (the rental companies haven’t had time to photograph them all). A boat isn’t like an apartment or a house; it’s a factory-made, mass-produced product. So if it’s recent or even brand-new, having actual photos doesn’t add much: the boat will look just like the manufacturer’s photos, with the same design and the same living space! The only things that will change are certain colors and equipment options (type of mainsail, presence of a bimini boat cover, etc.): that’s why we provide a list of the main key equipment on the boat listing. Also, keep in mind that even with actual photos taken at the start of the season or a year ago, there’s no guarantee it hasn’t sustained damage in the meantime. That’s why we’re here to inform you about the level of maintenance on the boats at our various partner boat owners, since we know most of them very well.
