Are there any nautical charts on board? Is there a Global Positionning System? And a sailing guide?

Updated on: 26/05/2025
When chartering a boat, paper nautical charts are required and must be kept in the chart table as part of the safety equipment.

In addition, most modern liveaboard boats are equipped with a Global Positionning System “chart plotter” that allows you to view your position and course on the virtual chart at any time. We invite you to consult the boat’s specifications, accessible via your contract, which can be viewed in the customer portal. We strongly recommend downloading the Navionics app onto your smartphone or tablet, as it serves as an excellent alternative to the Global Positionning System chartplotter: https://www.navionics.com/fra/ . Additionally, if you’re concerned about using mobile data during your cruise, note that this app allows you to download nautical charts for the regions of your choice for a few USD, so you can have them stored on your device.

On some boats, you’ll find a nautical guide to the region, such as a “Bloc Marine.” However, it may not be up to date, may not be in French, or may not be in good condition. Therefore, if this is important to you, we recommend purchasing one in advance so you can study the area before your cruise.
