Can I take provisions on board before I leave?
Updated on: 26/05/2025Generally, rental companies offer this service: they send you a form to fill out so you can order your groceries in advance, or a link to a local supplier’s website. This way, you’ll arrive on the boat with your groceries already on board. You’ll pay the bill when you arrive (often, a markup is added to the price of each item to cover the cost of the delivery service).
At some bases, provisions taken on board are not available if neither the charter company nor a local supermarket offers this service.

Our tip: Some crew members can do the shopping at the marina’s supermarket while the skipper takes inventory on the boat. This has the advantage of letting you freely choose all your items and costs a little less.
