Last updated on 8 April 2025

Located in the north of Germany, the lagoon city of Ueckermünde is the perfect destination for a family boat trip. Linked to the river Uecker, the Szczecin Lagoon and the Baltic Sea, it is in fact home to several places of interest and offers a variety of activities.

An summer in Lagunenstadt Ueckermünde

Yacht charter in the lagoon city of Ueckermünde would allow you to explore the magnificent Szczecin Lagoon and contemplate its beautiful landscape, enhanced by lush forests. A majestic lagoon that lends itself readily to many fun activities such as swimming, walks on the beach and fishing.

Intrepid hikers will also find what they are looking for along the many hiking trails that run alongside the canal. Looking for entertainment after a long walk? Don't miss the famous Ueckermünde Lagonavec festival and its cultural programs, which have been held every July since 1964.

Further afield, you will discover other sites, such as the Kletterwald adventure park or the Tierpark Ueckermünde zoo. Enrich your stay by taking a detour to the old town of Ueckermünde or the medieval cities of Wismar and Stralsund. Located on the Baltic coast, the latter date back to the Hanseatic League. Their red-brick Gothic-style buildings, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2002, will delight history lovers.

This region, with its magnificent landscape of forests, lagoons and white sandy beaches, attracts many travelers. Located close-hauled to the border between Germany and Poland, the city offers a multitude of activities that will appeal to many.

Unforgettable vacations at the side of the boat

With more than 300 mooring areas, yacht charter in the lagoon city of Ueckermünde is a must. This seaside resort also has a playground and is located close to the beach of the Szczecin Lagoon. For a successful vacation, veer off in all sorts of fun directions.

First of all, enjoy the entertainment on the beach. Start, for example, with a little stroll along the beach. Continue with a pleasant swim and a little relaxation. You can also go sailing or surfing to work off some energy. Then take your boat and enjoy a romantic trip on the lagoon. Home to several species of fish, this stretch of water is also ideal for fishing.

Discover the city of Ueckermünde and its surroundings

After your fishing trip, sail along the canal to reach the town of Ueckermünde. Take a tour of the city center to discover St. Mary's Church. Dating from 1766, it houses painted portraits of Calvin and Luther.

Continue your stroll to the Gothic-style Ueckermünde Castle, which houses the Haffmuseum. You will enjoy a breathtaking view of the lagoon and the city from the top of the tower of this 12th-century castle.

Once you have finished your city tour, head for the Tierpark Ueckermünde wildlife park. Covering an area of almost 18 hectares, the park is home to an astonishingly varied flora and fauna. Little ones will have fun feeding the rabbits, lambs and goats.

Want to extend your trip? Take your boat back and head for Zarow or, further on, Peene to contemplate a landscape of fields of flowers and forests. Here, otters and deer will parade before your eyes in their natural habitat.
