How long does the cruise last on a Nile cruise?
Updated on: 17/09/2025Our best-selling cruise from Esna to Aswan takes just 15 hours! The sailing time is therefore quite short: spread out over a week, the average is about 2 hours of sailing per day.
Please note that sailing takes place only during the day. Each day is structured as follows: in the morning, you sail for a short while until your next stop. Once the day’s visits are finished, the dahabieh sails a little further, then stops in the heart of the Egyptian countryside to spend the night. The advantage? No noise pollution, and total immersion in the Nile’s natural surroundings.
Another important point: although most of the navigation on the Nile is done under sail, there may be times when the wind is too calm to rely on. In this case, a motorboat will tow the dahabieh for the expected duration so you don’t lose any time on your cruise, all without unpleasant odors or disruptive noise.
