The Balearic Islands in the open sea off the Costa Brava form the main sailing area in Spain. The archipelago offers its visitors an excellent cruising program with a very rich gastronomy, landscapes that are both wild and urban, varied sailing conditionsas well as numerous possible stopovers close to the coast, on the side of the boat of a yacht charter with a skipper in Spain! The archipelago is made up of 18 islands and islets, including five main islands and one uninhabited island (Cabrera). The five main islands offer a variety of atmospheres: a festive atmosphere in Ibiza, wild coves on the coast of Menorca and Formentera, lively ports on the island of Mallorca and unspoiled flora and fauna in Cabrera. Take advantage of a yacht charter, sailboat charter and catamaran charter in the Balearic Islands to explore this vast marine area! The Balearic Islands are also one of the secrets of a successful cruise in Spain.

Why go on a cruise to the Balearic Islands?

With a mild Mediterranean climate, the Balearic archipelago can be visited all year round and reveals varied landscapes, as well as a multitude of anchorages.

What will you find in the Balearic Islands? More than a hundred coves, each one as beautiful as the next, dream beaches hauled in by turquoise waters and exceptional diving sites. A stay in the archipelago is combined with water-side entertainment and nautical activities. A yacht charter, sailboat and catamaran in the Balearic Islands will allow you to sail at your leisure and in complete tranquility to the many places of interest in the archipelago.

For a gentle approach, start your yacht charter, sailboat charter and catamaran charter in the Balearic Islands on the largest and most famous island for tourists, the island of Mallorca, with its famous bay of Palma. Take inspiration from the FILOVENT experience to organize your cruise to Mallorca. Charming discoveries await you: charming villages (Casco Antigo), small fishing ports (Porto Cristo) as well as heavenly coves, a majestic cathedral and the Caves of Drach. If you like cycling and hiking, the Sierra de Tramuntana and Cap de Formentor will offer you magnificent points of view!

In the south of Majorca, don't miss the island of Cabrera, a true Mediterranean jewel. Classified as a "National Land and Sea Park" since 1991, it is home to more than 450 species of plants and two species of animals: lizards and birds. Its landscapes combine immense cliffs, coves, caves and beaches. Archaeology enthusiasts will love to set off on the many hiking trails. Be careful, however, as access by boat is restricted to preserve the natural space, especially in high season. However, don't leave Cabrera without seeing the Blue Cave, the Cova Azul, a splendid spectacle of azure blues directly fromyour yacht, sailboat and catamaran charter in the Balearic Islands.

Then, your yacht charter, sailboat charter and catamaran charter in the Balearic Islands will take you east to the island of Menorca. Classified as a "World Biosphere Reserve" by UNESCO since 1993, it will delight nature lovers. There is a succession of coves with crystal-clear water, picturesque villages and valleys snaking their way along red dirt tracks. The island of Menorca is the least visited of the Balearic archipelago, and has retained a certain authenticity without being spoiled. La Ciutadella de Menorca, the port of Mahon and the village of Es Castell are well worth a visit. Want to relax in the sun? Head for the beaches of Punta Prima, Arenal den Castell or Cala Santandria.

To round off your cruise in the Balearic Islands in style, head for Ibiza, the ultimate party destination with hundreds of nightclubs, and Formentera, the smallest island in the archipelago. in Ibiza, take the opportunity to visit the cathedral of Eivissa (of the Virgin of the Snows) and take a photo of the upper town of Dalt Vita. The beach awaits you afterwards for a little session of lazing around and partying until the end of the night.

Mallorca or Menorca : which one is for you? Check out our guide to find out which island to choose when cruising in the Balearic Islands.

what you need to know before your yacht charter, sailboat charter or catamaran charter in the Balearic Islands

Ranking in the top 7 of the best Mediterranean cruise destinations, the Balearic Islands enjoy an average of 300 days of sunshine a year, making them a prime destination for enjoying the beaches and the sun! Temperatures are very warm in summer (around 30°C) and there is little wind. If you want to enjoy better sailing conditions, we recommend a yacht charter, sailboat or catamaran in the Balearic Islands between October and April, when there are fewer visitors and the Mistral blows stronger. Moreover, Menorca is more suitable for sailing because the island benefits from its position more exposed to the winds, including the Tramontana in the north of the archipelago.

l'île de Formentera
The island of Formentera

You will find many very well-equipped marinas along the coasts of Majorca: Pollensa and Alcudia in the north of the island, Palma, el Arenal and Can Pastilla in the south. If you are planning a yacht charter of a week or more to visit the Balearic Islands, we recommend that you start from Menorca and gradually work your way down to Mallorca, then Ibiza and Formentera.
