However, the Costa Brava is buffeted by various winds whose intensity varies according to the season. To the north, the Tramontana can be violent the further one gets from the coast. The most spectacular sailing area on the Costa Brava extends from the southern border of San-Filiu, since further down the coast becomes flat and less interesting for sailing enthusiasts. The area from Cap Creus to Estartit is without doubt the wildest and can be fully discovered in a week with a few hours of sailing each day.
