How do I file a claim with the insurer (cancellation or damage waiver)?

Updated on: 26/05/2025
A claim refers to either 1) damage resulting in the loss of part of the security deposit (which may be covered by damage waiver insurance), or 2) an unforeseen event forcing you to cancel the charter (which may be covered by cancellation insurance). You must log in to your customer account and go to the insurance section. There you will find your insurance policy number, and the claims filing procedure is outlined at the bottom. You must go to www.declare.fr and click on “file a claim.” You will then be asked to enter the policyholder number listed on your insurance certificate or your insurance policy number, as well as your last name. You can then complete the requested information and upload your supporting documents.

Please note: in the case of a damage waiver insurance policy, you must report any claim within 5 days of becoming aware of it. For example, if you have taken out a damage waiver policy, you cannot report damage to the boat 15 days after the end of your cruise—damage that you became aware of during the charter and for which the charter company deducted a portion of the security deposit.
